Louisiana Security Deposit Forwarding Address Rule

R.S. 9:3251(A) says the tenant shall furnish the lessor a forwarding address at termination of the lease to which required statements may be sent.

  • Keep email/portal/mail confirmation.
  • Identify the rental address and lease.
  • Save any response acknowledging the new address.
Louisiana changed its itemization timing in 2026. Do not treat “one month” as a fixed 30-day period or turn the 2026 itemization amendment into a blanket 45-day refund rule. Educational information only.
