Match the YES statement to the FirstKey ledger
FirstKey says YES statements are generally emailed during the month and the related charge appears on the FirstKey account later. Compare the amount, utility type and service period so you can tell whether the question is about the underlying utility cost or the landlord ledger posting.
Watch for the first chargeback cycle
FirstKey states that the first utility chargeback can appear six to eight weeks after move-in. A larger early ledger amount can therefore include service from an earlier period than the month in which it posts. Check dates before treating the charge as one month of usage.
State and provider exceptions matter
FirstKey identifies exceptions in Texas, North Carolina and Nevada, and notes that municipal or utility-provider requirements can change the setup. Use the actual home location and lease rather than assuming the standard workflow applies.
